2.21.2. Cloudflare


Our company is not affiliated with the Cloudflare service. The article is for informational purposes only and is intended to give an idea of the basic steps required to organize traffic filtering.

To connect your domain to Cloudflare and enable traffic filtering, do the following:

  1. Register on the site Cloudflare and log into your account.
  2. In the top bar, click "Add site" and enter the domain name.
  3. Choose the appropriate tariff plan (free tariff is available).
  4. Check correctness DNS-domain records that Cloudflare will automatically detect. If necessary, correct them and use the button with the cloud image to mark for which of the records the filtering should work:
    • - filtering is enabled. Requests will be filtered by passing through intermediate Cloudflare servers.
    • - filtering is disabled. Requests will go directly, bypassing the Cloudflare server.
  5. Copy NS, which will be issued by Cloudflare, and register them in the domain registrar panel instead of the current ones. If the domain is registered with us, use instruction.
  6. Wait for the update DNS cache and Cloudflare will see their NS.
  7. Open the section "Overview":
  8. Turn on the mode "Under Attack Mode" (you need to enable this mode only if you need to filter traffic):Pressing the switch again will allow you to select the appropriate filtering level.

In the future, it will be possible to make changes to DNS-domain records or enable / disable filtering in the section DNS:

If you don't want to completely clear the cache, use one of the alternative methods:

  • Either in the block "Development Mode" set the switch to position "On" — this will allow you to disable the cache for 3 hours, after which caching will be automatically enabled again.
  • Either in the block "Purge Cache" insteadof "Purge Everything" click "Custom Purge" — this will clear the cache only for those URLthat you specify.

To completely clear your Cloudflare cache, do the following:

  1. Open the section "Caching":
  2. In the block "Purge Cache" click "Purge Everything":
  3. Confirm the operation and wait about 30 seconds for the changes to take effect.
