2.6.2.2.5. Enabling forced use of UTF-8 for filenames in Total Commander

The hosting uses the standard UTF-8 encoding. If the files have Cyrillic names or they contain symbols of other national alphabets, then when creating or loading such files using various FTPclients in some cases, there may be problems with the display of file names and access to them. In order to avoid such problems, it is recommended to configure in FTP-the client is forced to use UTF-8. This is especially true when downloading files from devices running Windows.

  1. From the main menu select "Network → Connect with FTP-server…" or press combination Ctrl+F:
  2. Select the previously added connection and click "Edit…":
  3. In the tab "Extended" against "File name encoding" choose "UTF-8" and press "OK":
