2.24.1.1. Create a mailbox

Important points:

  • Conditions for creating a mailbox:
    • You must have an active hosting account with a tariff theusual or businesshosting.
    • The hosting account must contain added a site with a domain name or a free slot to add it.
    • Should not be exceeded limit on the volume of stored mail.
  • Letters will be sent to the created mailbox only if they are set in the domain settings our MX records... MX records do not affect the sending of letters.
  • No more than 999 mailboxes can be created in one hosting account.
  1. Open the section "Mailboxes".
  2. Clickon "Create mailbox" at the top of the section. Note Domain filter on the right does not affect to create mailboxes.
  3. Fill out the form and click "Create a ":
    • "Email" — specify the full name of the mailbox along with the domain for which it is being created, for example mail@domain.com. Note Part of the title before @ must not end with a hyphen.
    • "Password" - enter the mailbox password manually or generate it automatically with the button "Generate". Attention! For security reasons, passwords from mailboxes are not stored on the hosting. If you forget your mailbox password, you can only set a new one in settings mailbox.
    • "Antispam" - select a level antispam.
    • "Outgoing limit" — the number of letters can send from the mailbox within a day. Empty field or 0 means no mailbox limit.
    • "Volume limit" — the amount of mail in megabytes, which can be stored in the mailbox. Empty field or 0 means no mailbox limit.
    • "Enable redirect" - check the box if you want to immediately configure for the box redirect.
    • "Turn on answering machine" - check the box if you want to immediately configure for the box answeringmachine.
  4. Check the operation of the created mailbox.

If you get an error stating that the site already exists as a subdomain when you try to create a mailbox for a subdomain:

  1. Delete subdomain from section "My sites" without deleting files.
  2. Create subdomain mailbox. Note In this case, the subdomain will be added in the section "My sites" not as a subdomain, but as a site.
  3. Transfer subdomain files to the new directory. For example, files of the test.example.com subdomain should be located in the directory example.com/test, but if you add it not as a subdomain, but as a site, the files will have to be placed in the directory test.example.com/www.
  4. Add for subdomain our MX record.
