4.4.3. App passwords for mail
Attention!
For corporate mail only.App passwords allow you to connect to a mailbox with special passwords instead of a main password.
When using app passwords
- In the "Mailboxes" section, you cannot log in to WebMail.Online and WebMail classic without a password — a dash is displayed instead of the login button.
- Log in to WebMail.Online — only with main password (app passwords don't work for it).
- Log in to WebMail classic — only with the app password (with main password will be "Failed login attempt").
- Connecting to the mailbox using scripts and other mail clients — only with the app password (main password doesn't work for them).
Configure
Notes:
- App passwords are generated automatically only.
- Validity period for each app password — 6 months. You cannot renew it, you can only create a new one.
- You can create a separate app password for each mail client.
- Log in to the mailbox using WebMail.Online.
- Open the "Settings → App passwords" section.
- (If app passwords are not enabled) Click "Enable app passwords" and confirm the operation with the button in the window.
- Enter the name of the app password (for example,
Thunderbird) and click "Create new app password". - Copy the created app password and use it when connecting to the mailbox in scripts and any mail clients other than WebMail.Online.
Disable
App passwords are disabling in WebMail.Online in the "Settings → App passwords" section:
- Single app password — just delete it from the list.
- All app passwords — click "Disable app passwords" and confirm the operation with the button in the window.
