2.15.1.1.3. Self-signed certificate
Self-signed certificates are used to test SSL functionality or for parts of a site that are used by a limited group of people. It is not recommended to use this type of certificate for the working version of a site. When you visit a page with a self-signed SSL certificate, your browser will display a warning and suggest that you leave the page. Despite this, the data transferred between the site visitor and the server will be encrypted. This type of certificate is quite suitable for the administrative section of a site.
Install
The data for the self-signed certificate is filled in automatically — the country is set based on the IP address, and the other fields are filled in with dashes.
- Open "SSL settings".
- On the "Self-signed certificate" tab, click "Install".
- Wait approximately 15-30 minutes for the changes to take effect.
