8.2.11. MySQL security

Security is managed in the "MySQL" section on the "Security" tab.

Notes:

  • Maximum number of entries in the list — 32.
  • Changes will take effect within 5 minutes.

The tab is used to configure access restrictions by IP:

Use the "Add IP address" button to add IP addresses / hosting accounts / Manticore Search instances that should have access to the instance.

If the site connecting to the instance is located on our hosting, then instead of an IP address, you should add the hosting account with this site to the security settings. This will ensure that the site has access to the instance during the migration of the hosting account between servers (for example, when changing the country, plan, or for technical reasons).

If the instance databases are used in Manticore Search indexes, then the corresponding Manticore Search instance should be added.

The access restriction mode depends on the entries in the list and the "Firewall status" switch:

  • If there are one or more entries in the list and Firewall is enabled — the instance can only be connected to from these IP addresses / hosting accounts / Manticore Search instances; access is denied to all others.
  • The list is empty or the Firewall is disabled — the instance can be connected to from any IP address.

For each entry in the list, you can add comments.

The log is updated every 10 minutes.

The tab displays a log of failed attempts to connect to databases (using an incorrect login or password) for the last 3 days:

The log displays:

  • User login.
  • IP address from which the connection attempt was made.
    • When attempting to connect via phpMyAdmin, "phpMyAdmin" is displayed instead of the IP address.
  • Number of attempts.
  • Date.
