2.5.2.1.3. Data for connecting via FTP

Attention!

For security reasons, FTP user passwords are not stored on the hosting in clear text. If you have forgotten your password, you can only install new.

To connect to a hosting via FTP using FTPclient use the data or FTP URL from the section «FTP users».

  • Host (server) - address from the column «Host».
  • Login - username from the column «Login».
  • Password — is given at creating FTP user or change its settings.
  • Port — standard 21.

FTP URL is a link in the format ftp://login@host:port/, which contains all the data for the connection, except for the password.

By clicking on the arrow icon, the link will be opened by the browser in the standard handler of your system. For example, an FTP client WinSCP, installed NOT from the Microsoft Store, may register itself as an FTP URL handler on the system. As a result, after clicking on the link, the FTP client is automatically launched with the filled connection data and all that remains is to enter the password.

By clicking on the link itself, it is copied to the clipboard. The copied link can be used to quickly connect using FTPclient — usually the client recognizes the link and automatically arranges the data from it in the required fields, after which all that remains is to enter the password. There is such an opportunity in FileZilla and WinSCP.
