2.5.2.1.3. Credentials for connect via FTP

Attention!

For security purposes, FTP user passwords are not stored in plain text on the hosting. If you forget your password, you can only set a new one.

To connect to hosting via FTP using an FTP client, use the data or FTP URL from the section "FTP Users".

  • Host (server) — address from the "Host" column.
  • Login — the username from the "Login" column.
  • Password — is set when creating an FTP user or modifying their settings.
  • Port — standard 21.

FTP URL is a link in the format ftp://login@host:port/, which contains all connection data except for the password.

When you click on the icon with an arrow, the link will be opened by the browser in your system's default handler. For example, an FTP client WinSCP, not installed from the Microsoft Store, can register itself in the system as an FTP URL handler. As a result, after following the link, the FTP client is automatically launched with the connection data filled in, and you only need to enter the password.

When you click on the link itself, it is copied to the clipboard. The copied link can be used for quick connection using an FTP client — usually, the client recognizes the link and automatically populates the necessary fields with data from it, after which you only need to enter the password. This feature is available in FileZilla and WinSCP.
