2.5.2.1.2. Create an FTP user

Attention!

For security reasons, FTP user passwords are not stored on the hosting site in the plain text. If you forget the specified password, you can only set a new one. We recommend saving passwords in specialized password managers, such as Bitwarden.
  1. Open the "FTP users" section.
  2. At the top of the section, click "Add FTP user".
  3. Fill out the form and click "Save":
    • "Login" — FTP username. Always starts with an unchanged prefix with name of hosting account.
    • "Password" — FTP user password. You can specify it manually or generate it.
    • "More" — click to expand additional settings:
      • "Access directory" — path to the directory to which this FTP user should have access. Use this setting if you need to provide access only to the directory of a certain site without access to other sites in the hosting account.
        • The path is specified from the root directory of the hosting account.
        • The field supports autocompletion by pressing Tab.
        • Symlinks in hints are ignored.
        • IDN domains can be entered in both normal form and in Punycode.
      • "Read only" — enable if you want the FTP user to only be able to view FTP content and not be able to change anything.
