3.1.5.3. CNAME
Important points:
- CNAME record cannot be added for base name. For such purposes, it is worth using a record like ALIAS.
- If a CNAME record has been added for a subdomain, no other record can be added for it.
- If you have added any other records for the subdomain, you cannot add a CNAME record for that subdomain.
- CNAME cannot be used as a redirect, since the HTTP redirect is within the system DNS it is impossible to organize.
CNAME is a record that copies another domain, in some sense binds the subdomain for which the record was created to the actual (canonical) domain name. CNAME completely copies all records of another domain, thereby creating a complete copy of another address.
