3.6.1. Confirm domain in Google Search Console
Using a DNS record
Attention!
- The domain must be served on our NS. If the domain is served on third-party NS, actions need to be performed not with us, but in the panel of their owner.
Automatic setup
Use presets from the group "Google → Google Search Console".
Manual setup
- Open Google Search Console and in the main menu, click "Add property".
- In the "Domain resource" section, specify the resource name and click "Continue":
- To confirm the domain — domain name without www (for example,
example.com). - To confirm the subdomain — full name of the subdomain (for example,
sub.example.com).
- Click "Copy" next to the verification record.
- Open the domain settings and add a DNS record with the following data:
- To confirm the domain:
- "Subdomain" — empty.
- "Type" — "TXT".
- "Data" — copied test record.
- To confirm the subdomain:
- "Subdomain" — the name of the subdomain without the main domain (for example,
sub). - "Type" — "TXT".
- "Data" — copied test record.
- Wait for the DNS cache to refresh. This usually takes a few hours (maximum 24).
- Return to Google Search Console and click "Verify".
After confirmation, do not delete the added DNS record.
Using an HTML file
- Open Google Search Console and in the main menu, click "Add property".
- In the "Resource with prefix in URL" block, specify the name of the resource with protocol and click "Continue":
- To confirm the domain — domain name without www (for example,
https://example.com). - To confirm the subdomain — full name of the subdomain (for example,
https://sub.example.com).
- Expand the "HTML file" block and download the verification file.
- Using the file manager or any FTP client, upload the verification file to the hosting in the root directory of the site.
- Return to Google Search Console and click "Verify".
After confirmation, do not delete the uploaded HTML file.
