3.6.11. Connecting a Domain to Wix

IP option

Attention!

The domain must be served on our NS... If the domain is served on third-party NS, the actions need to be performed not with us, but in the panel of their owner.
  1. Log in to the service Wix and copy the IP and CNAME addresses from instructions on their website. Attention! The data is displayed only after authorization.
  2. Openup domain settings and remove records type A, AAAA, CNAME and ALIAS:
    • When connected main domain — for the main domain and the www subdomain (subdomains of the form example.com and www.example.com).
    • When connected subdomains — for a subdomain and its variant with www (subdomains of the form sub.example.com and www.sub.example.com).
  3. Add two DNS records with the following data:
    • First recording:
      • "Subdomain":
        • When connected main domain — leave the field empty.
        • When connected subdomains — specify the name of the subdomain without main domain (forexample, sub).
      • "Type" — select "A".
      • "Data" — specify the IP address from instructions Wix.
    • Second entry:
      • "Subdomain":
        • When connected main domain — specify www.
        • When connected subdomains — specify the name of the subdomain without main domain with www (forexample, www.sub).
      • "Type" — select "CNAME".
      • "Data" — specify the CNAME address from instructions Wix.
  4. Wait for the update DNS cache... This usually takes several hours (maximum 24).

Option with NS

Attention!

  • To connect main domain the domain must be serviced by us as a registrar.
  • To connect subdomains the domain must be served on our NS... If the domain is served on third-party NS, the actions need to be performed not with us, but in the panel of their owner.
  1. Log in to the service Wix and copy NS addresses from instructions on their website. Attention! The data is displayed only after authorization.
  2. Install NS:
    • When connected main domain — install NS from instructions Wix.
    • When connected subdomains — add two DNS records with the following data:
      • "Subdomain" — specify the name of the subdomain without main domain (forexample, sub).
      • "Type" — select "NS".
      • "Data" — when adding the first record, specify the first NS from instructions Wix, when adding a second record, the second NS.
  3. Wait for the update DNS cache... This usually takes several hours (maximum 24).
