3.1.4.3. Domain directing to VPS or dedicated server

  1. Edit address records like A and in the field "Data" enter the IP address VPS or dedicated server in IPv4 format (four dot-separated numbers):
  2. If the VPS should be available not only over IPv4, but also over IPv6, edit address records like AAAA (if there are no such records, you can add) and in the field "Data" specify the IP address in IPv6 format (colon-separated groups of numbers and symbols) (if the server should be accessible only via IPv4, remove these entries):
  3. Wait for the update DNS cache... This usually takes several hours (maximum 24).

Attention!

The server that is to receive domain mail must have the appropriate software installed and configured.

If the VPS or dedicated server should host not only the site, but also the domain mailboxes, do the following:

  1. If there is an entry in the domain settings like CNAMErelated to mail, remove her:
  2. Delete existing records like MX:
  3. Add a new record of type A for the subdomain mailpointing to the IP address VPS or dedicated server... When adding:
    • "Subdomain" - specify mail (you can use any subdomain name you like).
    • "Type" - select "A".
    • "Data" — specify the IP address of your server.
  4. Add a new MX record pointing to the subdomain added in the previous step. When adding:
    • "Subdomain" - leave the field blank.
    • "Type" - select "MX".
    • "Priority" - specify a number (for example, 10).
    • "Data" — specify the full name of the subdomain added in the previous step.
  5. Wait for the update DNS cache... This usually takes several hours (maximum 24).

Note

If the domain is served on third-party NS, you can set for the domain in the control panel of the current registrar our NS, add domain in our control panel and follow the steps described here.
  1. Open the domain settings in the current NS owner control panel.
  2. Edit address records of type A and give them an IP address VPS or dedicated server in IPv4 format (four dot-separated numbers).
  3. If the VPS should be available not only over IPv4, but also over IPv6, edit the AAAA address entries (if there are no such entries, you can add them) and specify an IPv6 IP address for them (colon-separated groups of numbers and symbols). If the server should only be accessible via IPv4, remove the AAAA entries.
  4. Wait for the update DNS cache... This usually takes several hours (maximum 24).

  2. If there is a CNAME record associated with mail in the domain settings, delete it.
  3. Delete existing MX records.
  4. Add a new A record for the subdomain mailpointing to the IP address VPS or dedicated server.
  5. Add a new MX record pointing to the subdomain added in the previous step.
  6. Wait for the update DNS cache... This usually takes several hours (maximum 24).
